Where do we look for your relatives? Access to thousands of records

Sometimes, querying the civil registry for ancestors is not enough. Our team has the knowledge and experience to search where others give up.

Civil Registries and Local Courts

We locate official birth, marriage and death records in Spain dating from 1871 onwards.

Ecclesiastical Archives

For events occurring before 1871, we turn to the books of the Catholic Church, going back several centuries.

Military and Other Archives

We track militia records, academic records, historical censuses, etc. to find information about your family.

Our Methodology: How we guarantee historical rigor

We do not assume any data to be valid without contrasting it. The information circulating on the internet usually contains errors; that is why we verify each detail using original documentation and reliable archival sources.

Frequently asked questions about ancestor research

Yes. We treat all information with total confidentiality and in compliance with data protection regulations.

The objective of the research will be to obtain, at the very least, the name and first surname of each and every one of the direct ancestors (not siblings) corresponding to the contracted research level.

Logically, the data is obtained from the found documentation, whether they are birth, baptism, marriage, census, or press records, etc. These documents can provide additional data such as dates, towns, professions, etc. All this information is what is included in the Ancestor Book that is delivered.

Our commitment is not to charge for ancestors whose identity (at least, name and first surname) could not be found out, so they will be proportionally deducted from the budgeted price, without passing on to the client the expenses incurred in searching for people who for any reason could not finally be identified.

Except for extraordinary cases in which there is a special interest in specific data or it has been agreed upon with the client, our researches do not seek to identify collateral ascendants (siblings, cousins, or descendants thereof).

The limit of any genealogical research is the lack of written documentation regarding the person we are looking for. In most cases, this limit coincides with the appearance of parish registers, in the mid-16th century, although sometimes it is possible to go back further.

However, during the study of family history, difficulties may arise in finding information (for example, destroyed archives, unknown parents, etc.). For this reason, and although we put the utmost effort into finding out the data, these problems can impact the total number of identified ancestors.

Our commitment is not to charge for people who could not be identified, at least with a name and first surname, so they will be proportionally deducted from the budgeted price.

If you are interested in a broader research than the one included in the PREMIUM Service, once the included objective is completed, we will prepare a personalized quote based on the case and the feasibility of expanding the research, which will depend mainly on the existence or not of older documentation in your ancestors' places of origin.

We can delve into the study as long as there is written documentation regarding the people we are looking for. This limit usually coincides with the appearance of parish registers, in the mid-16th century, although sometimes it is possible to go even further back in time.

However, during any family research, obstacles may appear that make it impossible to identify a person or branch (for example, destroyed archives, children of unknown parents or single mothers, etc.).

We are committed to calculating the final price applying a proportional discount for direct ancestors whose identity could not be documented with at least a name and first surname, if any of these cases occurs.

To start the genealogical research, only the name and surnames of the main person are strictly necessary, as well as their date and place of birth.

However, the rest of the data you enter in the application form concerning parents and grandparents will serve to speed up the search and contrast the documented information with that known by the family.

In the form, you will also find an Observations section where you can freely write any comments or additional information.

From the information collected during the research, the graphic representation of the family tree displays the following data for each person, due to space limitations:

  • Name.
  • Surnames (at least the first one).
  • Date of birth (exact or approximate if there is no documented proof).
  • Place of birth (in all cases where documented proof exists).

The Ancestor Book also delivered collects additional information such as marriage places and dates, professions, addresses, and other curiosities extracted from the found documentation.

You can check the prices of the different genealogical research options we offer, depending on the level of generations you want to know.

You can complete your research with the Graphic Representation of the family tree and the printing and binding of the ancestor book.

On the same page you will find the form to commission the study.

It is very difficult to obtain photographs of ancestors outside the family circle. Only in certain genealogical researches where people appear who had some social, political, or professional relevance, is it possible to find old photographs.

However, both in the Ancestor Book and in the Family Tree, we can include any photograph that the client provides to us.

Of course, in addition to illustrating the Ancestor Book, we will send you all the original documentation obtained during the research, so that you have proof of the total veracity of the data represented both in the report and in the print with the family tree.

In that documentation, you will even be able to see additional information, which is not reflected in the family tree due to space constraints, but which has great historical and sentimental importance.

In cases where the rules of the corresponding archive do not allow graphical reproduction of documents, the Ancestor Book will feature the bibliographic reference (volume and page) of the document offering the provided information.

The main difference lies in the study's objective.

  • Research for all branches includes the direct ancestors of the main person through each of the ascending lines, without distinction of gender or surname.

That is, father and mother, four grandparents, eight great-grandparents, sixteen great-great-grandparents, etc., thus doubling the number of ancestors from one generation to the previous.

  • Research by surname line is limited in each generation to the direct ancestor with that surname and their spouse.

That is, father and mother, paternal grandparents, paternal-paternal great-grandparents, etc., so in each generation there will only be the two people who transmit the lineage.

It is not the same.

Unlike other genealogical services companies, our researches for all branches aim to identify all direct ancestors, regardless of their gender and surname, allowing us to find out a person's list of surnames.

On the contrary, research by surname line, whether paternal or maternal, only follows the branch of that specific surname.

In practical terms, the big difference lies in the fact that in a family tree for all branches, the ancestors are duplicated in each generation, while in a surname line one, there are only two people per generation.
